Match Update: UFC vs LECO BATS – Game 3 of 7 Played on Friday 19th Feb 2016 at Kinrara Oval, Puchong Toss: Won by UFC and elected to field first

LECO BATS Innings – 144 for 7 after 20 overs (Varun 17/2, Faesal 15/1, Murad 16/1 & Sandeep 31/1)

After a pouring rain in the evening we were lucky enough to start the game on time. UFC winning the toss elected to field expecting ball to swing and support their quick bowlers. However once they stepped into the field expecting all assistance with ground condition and newly laid pitch went onto prove all their predictions were wrong. In fact all conditions suited better for batting where early stage wet outfield disallowed swinging the ball due to heavy and wet ball.

From the 1st delivery opponents manage to put UFCians to the back foot and took the control of the game in to their hands by putting up a 63 runs opening stand inside the fielding restrictions. Varun taking the responsibility to break the opening stand in the 6th over manage to successfully achieve the target by getting opener bowled out. With Murad joining Varun to pull back other opener only manage to add 26 more runs with the new batsmen in next 6 overs where Gopal held onto a catch of Varun’s delivery to send their next opener back to the pavilion. At the time scoreboard was 89 for 2 after 12 overs. Very next over Murad stuck with a wicket when new batsmen got out as they only managed to score 3 runs (92 for 3 after 13 Overs). Then in the 15th over very good fielding effort by Munir resulted in a run out and where opponents were 102 for 4. Couple of overs later Faesal succeeded in sending another batsmen out where Awais took a very good catch, and LECO BATS lost their 5th wicket at 121 in 16.5 overs. And then again 2 quick wickets in the final over ended LECO Innings for 144 for 7 where Sandeep manage to get a wicket while combined effort of Saif & Shreejith resulted in a run out. However UFCians did well to pull back after a blistering start of opponents scoring over 10 runs per over and loosing just 1 wicket.

UFC Innings – 108 All Out in 18 overs (Murad 29, Usman 21, Gopal 15 & Awais 14*)

Chasing a target of 7.3 runs per over UFC was depending highly on the openers to get a very good opening stand and score faster run rate knowing it will be difficult to score fast in the later stage. Usman as usual began with a quick fire 21 runs in 11 deliveries to put UFC to 25 runs in the 3rd over where Usman lost his wicket. Murad joining opener Varun put up a 40 runs stand to put UFC to 65 for 2 in the 11th over where Murad got out for 29 runs after facing 34 deliveries. There after UFCians failed to put up a good partnership to secure their 3rd win of the series. 2 quick wickets LECO BATS put step in front where UFC were 68 for 4 in 12th over and another 2 quick wickets in 14th over saw UFC were in trouble loosing 6 wickets for 77 runs. Then next successful partnership was of skipper Gopal and Awais who put up 21 runs when skipper got out for 15 the score was 98 for 7 after 16 overs needing another 48 runs in last 4 overs. Another 2 quick wickets saw UFC was in deep trouble 101 for 9 in the 17th over. At the end of 18th over opponents manage to secure the win over UFC by beating them by 37 runs. UFCians will return back after a month break in the Corporate T20 in April
