Match Update: UFC vs Royal Warriors – Game 1 of 7 Played on Sunday 31st Jan 2016 at Bayuemas Oval, Klang Toss: Won by UFC and elected to bat first
UFC Innings – 142 for 5 in 20 overs (Ameen 41*, Varun 41 & Murad 13)
It was a brilliant all round performance from UFC to start of the season & the tournament with a remarkable victory. UFC winning the toss skipper decided to bat first. Opening stand for UFC was very short stay for Usman when he got out 12 runs facing only 7 deliveries, where UFC was 34 in 2.5 Overs. Murad joined the opener Varun and put up another quick-fire 29 runs partnership and Murad got out at 13 runs. Varun got out as the 3rd dismissal after completing his memorizing 41 runs in 36 deliveries. Deputy skipper Gopal joined skipper Ameen and put up a 25 runs stand in 26 deliveries for the 5th wicket. Gopal got out scoring 10 runs where UFC were 133 in 19 Overs. UFC completed their allocated overs at 142 runs loosing 5 wickets where Skipper Ameen scored an amazing 41 runs in 38 deliveries.
Royal Warriors Innings – 125 All Out in 19.4 overs (Awais 8 for 2, Sandeep 19 for 2 & Murad 14 for 1)
Royal Warriors began their campaign respectably and on the process they lost their 1st wicket at 28 in the 4.3 overs where Munir took a well judge catch dismissing their opener after Gopal kept the batsman guessing with a tight bowling line. Very next over Saif succeeded to defeat the other opener sending him back to the pavilion when the scoreboard was at 34 for 2 in 5.2 overs. Despite the very good bowling by UFC opponents manage to build up a decent partnership again but didn’t last long Awais dismissed putting opponents in spot of bother loosing 3 wickets for 60 runs after 9.5 overs. 2 deliveries after brilliant fielding and presence of mind of Usman on the field resulted another wicket when he safely returned the ball to Varun to take the bails of to send another dangerous opponent back to the pavilion. Brilliant bowling by Awais resulted in another dismissal where batsmen try to clear the rope instead sky rocketing the ball where safe fielding of Saif resulted the dismissal when Warriors were 71 for 5 after 11.5 overs. At this point UFC bowlers didn’t give any loose to the batsman’s to take upper hand kept bowling in tight lines. Where Varun completed his spell just allowing only 23 runs in his allocated overs. Behind the wicket Shreejith did an excellent job and took a brilliant stumping to remove the 6th wicket giving Murad a well-deserved wicket sink the opponents to deep trouble at 85 runs in 14.3 overs. Next over took quick wickets where one of them was a run out he took a brilliant direct hit to the wicket and dismiss another putting opponents to 91 for 8 after 15.5 overs. Superb bowling spell of Sandeep resulted in another wicket in his name sending the opponents loosing 9 for 104 runs in 18 overs. Meanwhile Gopal completed his spell of 4 overs giving away 30 runs and taking 1 wicket. Sandeep returned back into action when he returned the ball to Shreejith to dismiss the final wicket of the Royal Warriors.
